The Dividing

Queens of all tribes go to Tree Hollow to bear their kits. The oldest Spirit-Keeper of the tribes roams there. He has supplies of petals, furclumps, stones, Tree Cookies from Tree-Cut Place, and featherss for the naming. When queens have their kits he lays out one of each. So five. Here's where the dividing takes place:

1st Born: Belongs to Tree-Cut Tribe. Gets name from Tree Cookie. For Example:
If this classified to a kit it would be maybe Oldtree, Largetree, Thicktrunk or Wavyrings. These are kept with Tree-Cut's Spirit-Keeper until this cat dies or is exiled. Then the cookie will be dropped into Death Canyon.

2nd Born: Belongs to Stonesharp. Gets name from stones. E.g.
Maybe the kit with this Spirit Stone would be named Yellowspeckle, Roughstone, Roundstone or Graystone. Spirit-Keeper keeps this stone until the cat dies and then drops into into Death Canyon.

3rd Born: Greenleaf Tribe. Gets name from leaf. E.g.
Mapleleaf, Yellowleaf, Orangeleaf, Fireleaf. When cat dies the Spirit-Keeper drops it into Death Canyon.

4th Born: Birdfeather Tribe. Gets name from feather. E.g.
Maybe name would be Palefeather, Spottedfeather, Orangefeather, Whitespots. Death Canyon it drops when its cat dies.

5th Born: Clawedfur Tribe. Name from a clump of fur. These fur clumps are collected from dying cats, fresh-kill or animals they kill (like foxes and badgers). E.g.
Maybe Deerfur, Wirefur, Grayfur, Longfur. Again, dropped into Death Canyon.

6th Born: Very rare. If a 6th is born it will go to the smallest tribe, which is usually Clawedfur. And there's the same process.

Outsiders: In the rare time an outsider joins, the name changes or the outsider is not accepted and chased away.

The kits are divided as a test of loyalty. Some cannot bear it and vanish into the forest.



This is what it used to be like... Until Shadestone protested at a gathering. "Mothers will choose where their kits go... but there will not be 2 kits of one mother in one tribe," And a new law was chosen and Clawedfur became plentiful with fighters again.
